About the author
Highly regarded as a literary and social historian, Tim Couzens is also an acclaimed travel writer. He received the 1999 SAA/RCI Traveltour Media Award and won both the CNA Literary Award and the Sunday Times Alan Paton Award in 1993 for Tramp Royal: The True Story of Trader Horn. He is currently employed as Visiting Professor in the Graduate School for Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
