About the author Pamela Oberem spent her school years at Catholic convents in Johannesburg. For a year she worked as a state veterinarian in Namaqualand, where she did post-mortems on hundreds of sheep. After that she was a researcher for twenty years at Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute. At present she manages a game farm in the Waterberg and writes books on animal health. The Lazarus Funeral Parlour is her first work of fiction.
